The lyrics to the song I examined was "The Hills" by The Weeknd.
The lyrics construct masculinity based on the film Generation M because the artist is portraying women as being disposable and as second class. "I just fucked two bitches 'fore I saw you And you gon' have to do it at my tempo" The artist flaunts himself having sexual encounters before meeting up with the next chick and she has to please him regardless. The artist sings about building up a tolerance for drugs and he only came over to have sex. He only wants sex minus the feelings involved. In the beginning of the music video the woman is shown screaming at him because he crashed the car while he was under the influence and The Weeknd is shown not paying attention to her. “I only call you when it’s half past five, The only time that I’ll be by your side.” He has a specific time for this woman and after that he isn't available. Women are portrayed as being available when they are told to be and they have to submit to men.

Good choice of song! Although this song was blasted all over the radio stations when it was new, it is really quite sad that the underlying meaning is so negative. Listening to most of the songs from The Weeknd, he prides himself off being a womanizer and having multiple partners. Even his most recent song about being a "starboy" is pretty much slang for being characterized as having multiple women.
